5번째 앨범의 2번째 곡은 <That Day, Long Ago (Ⅰ)> 이다. 오래전 그날의 영문버전으로 내가 좋아하는 장르중의 하나인 컨트리 뮤직을 바탕으로 작업한 곡이다.

시작부터 흐르는 어쿠스틱 기타 선율과 애잔한 하모니카 소리가 매력적이지 않나?

• 당초 'Female Vocal'로 작업을 했으나, 실제로는 Male Vocal의 담백하고 깨끗한 음색이 입혀져 더욱 독특하고 깊이 있는 감성이 도드라진다.
• 과한 기교 없이 진심을 담아 노래하는 보컬이 Introspective(내성적인)하고 Empowering(힘을 주는) 무드와 완벽하게 어우러지는데 컨트리 음악의 특징인 것 같다.

​Instrumentation & Production:

• 어쿠스틱 기타(Acoustic Guitar)의 담백한 선율이 곡의 주된 멜로디를 이끌고, 하모니카(Harmonica)가 더해져 컨트리/포크 특유의 아련하고 향수 어린 감성을 극대화하게 했고, 여기에 은은한 스트링(Strings) 사운드가 곡의 서정성을 더해주고, 마치 과거의 한 장면처럼 생생하고 감성적인 분위기를 연출하는 프롬프트로 작업했다.
• 'Raw, Minimalist, Emotional' 프롬프트처럼, 꾸밈없이 원초적이고 미니멀한 편곡이 곡이 가진 감정의 깊이를 더욱 순수하게 전달하며, 듣는 이의 마음을 편안하게 한다.
• Overall Impression:
• 'That Day, Long Ago'라는 제목처럼, 오랜 추억 속 한 페이지를 조용히 넘기는 듯한 분위기가 곡 전체에 흐르는 멜로디라인, 남성 보컬의 진솔한 목소리와 미니멀한 악기 구성, 그리고 컨트리/포크 장르 특유의 따뜻함이 어우러져 듣는 이에게 깊은 위로와 함께 추억을 소환하는 곡이 된 것 같다.
